Hello everyone!
We’re thrilled to announce the second major release of Tanuki3DS, the 3DS emulator that has been in active development over the last six months.
This release marks a huge step forward in compatibility, usability, and performance. Here’s what’s new:
New Features & Improvements
✅ Native ARM64 Support for macOS & Linux
Tanuki3DS now runs natively on ARM64 architectures, improving performance and compatibility on newer Macs and Linux systems.
✅ Windows Support
For the first time, Windows users can enjoy Tanuki3DS with a dedicated build!
✅ Simplified Installation with App Bundles & AppImages
- Mac users can now download an App Bundle for easy installation.
- Linux users get AppImages, making it simple to run Tanuki3DS without complicated setup.
✅ Fully GUI-Driven Interface
Say goodbye to the command line! The emulator can now be launched and configured entirely through a graphical user interface (GUI).
✅ Better Game Compatibility
More 3DS games are now playable, with even more titles successfully booting to the title screen. Some system applications, like Mii Maker, are also functional!
✅ Support for CRO Files
Games like Pokémon and Mario & Luigi require CRO (Code Relocatable Object) support, which is now implemented.
✅ Massive Performance Improvements
This update brings optimizations like fragment shader generation and hardware vertex shaders (though the latter is not yet working on Windows). Expect a smoother experience across the board!
✅ Preliminary Audio Support
Basic audio functionality has been introduced, enhancing immersion in your favorite games.
✅ Experimental Free Look Feature
A first for any 3DS emulator—Tanuki3DS now has an experimental free look camera, allowing you to move the camera independently within games!

A range of minor improvements and bug fixes have been implemented, along with a configuration file for customizable settings.
